What Tool Do I Use For My Order?

This is a visual summary for what tool to use for types of order requests:

  • GOBI is best for print and ebooks, as well as rush print book order requests;
  • Rialto is best for ebooks and rush ebook order requests;
  • Juntar is best for print and ebooks, rush print and ebooks, and any order request where you're not sure where to start;
  • TeamDynamix (TDX) is best for streaming films for classroom use

Duplicate Orders

Resource Acquisitions will double-check that the title being ordered is not already held as either print or electronic. To help speed up fulfillment time for all orders, please:

  • check your order requests against current holdings before sending
  • only submit order requests in one ordering system (i.e. GOBI, Rialto, OR Juntar)
  • indicate that the order is intentionally duplicating our holdings

EBA - Taylor & Francis / Cambridge University Press (CUP) Sociology eBooks

Most eBooks on the Taylor & Francis and Cambridge University Press (CUP) Sociology eBooks platforms are visible in our catalog and available for unlimited simultaneous users.

UT Libraries subscribes to an evidence-based acquisition (EBA) collection for these titles. This provides our users with access to almost all titles published as an eBook on the T&F platform or the CUP platform. At the end of the term, we decide which titles to purchase.

What does this mean for purchasing titles?
You will not be able to purchase titles if they are available on an EBA.

  • Using Gobi, a message will display for item-level details that states “alt-ed added to library evidence based collection (date)" or "added to library evidence based collection (date)"

  • Using Rialto, the "In your institution" badge will display for title-level details along with the "Purchased in Rialto" badge for the platform options on the item-level details.

How do I make sure a title is purchased at the end of the term?

In Gobi, add titles to be purchased to the shared folder titled "[Platform] EBA for purchase."

In Rialto, add titles to be purchased to the shared list titled "[Platform] EBA for purchase."

  • Email apcs@utk.edu if you do not see this list.
  • Notes for interested users, etc. can not be added to titles in lists using Rialto

Demand Driven Acquisition (DDAs)

Under the DDA model, access to a title is provided without purchase. After a set number of uses, the title is then purchased by the library. Titles can be selected for DDA in Gobi. Please note that not all titles are eligible for DDA.

How to Request a Title for DDA

Search for your title in Gobi. Titles eligible for DDA are noted in the Library DDA column. If any row is marked "Yes", the title is DDA eligible. Select the title by clicking to the left of the image, and click the "Request DDA" button at the top of the page. You can request multiple items at once.

The titles you have selected for DDA will appear in a pop-up window. Any titles not eligible for DDA will be noted first. At the bottom of the window you will need to select the appropriate fund code and then click "Request DDA."

Which eBook option do I choose?

The eBook option you select is at your discretion. You will often see one title available through multiple platforms and various user options. The price is generally higher when the number of simultaneous users increases. If a title is required reading for a class, then it is recommended that you select the option that will provide the most users access at once and is DRM free. If there is no expressed desire for use by multiple people at once, then a lower number of simultaneous users will most likely suffice.
