Assessment Plan Design Support and Consultation

Assessment Design

We can help you design your assessment or find information on prior assessments conducted at UTK. Set up a time to chat or review the Salvage Shelf for previously conducted projects.

Survey Support

We can assist in planning surveys, especially in Qualtrics, by crafting a well-structured survey with meaningful questions to get the information you need.

Any human research study needs to be approved by our campus Institutional Review Board. This is a detailed process and can feel quite overwhelming the first time. Use some of these resources below to help!

The Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) "is responsible for ensuring the ethical and equitable treatment of all human subjects in research conducted under the university’s auspices." You can contact them with your IRB questions through email or drop in during their virtual office hours.

The Libraries Departmental Review Committee (DRC) reviews all research projects involving human participants proposed by faculty or staff in the Libraries. When you submit to the IRB, your proposal will get routed to the Libraries DRC committee for approval. If you have questions about your study, talk to the DRC.

APCS can help you, too! Just from experience, we know how to submit materials to the IRB in a way to prevent rework. Set up a time with us to help walk you through your submission. We are especially well versed in submitted survey studies.
