Financial Aid

Here are some terms and helpful resources to know of when paying for higher education.

TERMS TO KNOW

  • Financial Aid: Grants, loans, scholarships, and any other means of paying for college.
  • Scholarships/Grants: Free money awarded based on financial need or academic merit
  • In/Out of State Tuition: If you live in the same state where you attend university, you will be paying in-state tuition, which tends to be less than paying tuition to a university outside of the state where you live [out-of-state tuition]. 
  • Fees: Miscellaneous charges that aren't included in tuition, i.e.: Parking pass, meal plan, technology use, and etc. 
  • Work Study: Working for the education institution in some capacity in exchange for a full or partial tuition coverage.
