Citation Management

Various citation management software exists to be used with research and writing papers. University Libraries supports two:  EndNote and Zotero.  It can be difficult to decide which to use, you can go to the Zotero / EndNote comparison page to find a brief compariison of the two.

EndNote can be used to organize your resesarch (citations, full-text articles, images, notes), automatically generate in-text citations and bibliography as you write, automatically create bibliographies for Canvas, and use templates to format papers for submission to journals. EndNote is available to all University of Tennessee, Knoxville students, faculty and staff at no charge! Visit our EndNote page to learn more and to download the software.

Zotero is a free online bibliographic management tool. It works within your Firefox browser to help you collect, manage, and cite your research sources. Zotero allows you to collect all types of information, organize and annotate these sources, and access these anywhere you have internet access.
