Google Chrome Issues
Google Chrome may have trouble playing Flash based videos from the Library. If you are seeing an error message "Error loading player: No playable sources found" this is most likely the problem. It is recommend if you get this error message to use another browser like Firefox. Also, always make sure that you are using the latest version of Flash
You can go to your advanced settings and see how Chrome is set up to allow Flash but the fix is not always straight forward.
One thing to check for Chrome, is to
- Open Chrome's Preferences and get to Settings
- In Settings open "Advanced Settings"
- In "Privacy and Security" open "Content Settings"
- In "Content Settings" open your Flash settings
- You want the setting to be "Allow sites to run Flash"
- You might then want to restart Chrome and see if this has fixed the access problem
Widevine For Residence Life Cinema and Digital Campus
Residence Life Cinema (http://movies.utk.edu) and Digital Campus require Widevine player to be downloaded on your machine. If you do not have it, you should be prompted to downloaded. Some browsers work better for this than others.
Windows Machines: Internet Explorer sees to be the best browser to download it.
Mac machines: Safari seems to be the best platform to download it.
Chrome is claimed to not need it. But if you have problems try downloading it on Internet Explorer for Windows Machines or Safari for Macs.
Firefox. The versions after 43 do not support Widevine, but if you loaded it before you upgraded to the later versions it will still work on later versions. There is a reported work around for those who want to use Firefox at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1101900
Edge. Swank is currently working to make this browser usable.
