LABORSTA is a web-based site of global employment, unemployment, wages, consumer prices, occupational injuries, and other labor-related industry statistics. You can search by topic (e.g., public sector employment, retail prices of certain items, and so on) or by country or by a specific statistical publication. The data series are offered by Selig Center at the Univeristy of Georgia on buying power by states. A summary report is available online.
The Pew Research Center provides information on the issues, attitudes and trends shaping America and the world by conducting public opinion polling and social science research.
These include effective buying income (EBI, a measure of disposable income) and the buying power index (BPI, a measure of spending power based on EBI and additional factors). Demographics are broken out by age, race, city, county and state. The data will be of particular interest to companies running consumer marketing promotions, although any sizable incentive program may be able to use the demographic data to its advantage.
