Reading Books

Once you have borrowed an ebook, you can access it from your Shelf. In the mobile app, books and audiobooks download automatically when you're connected to Wi-Fi, so you can read them even when you're offline!

Step 1

Tap Shelf at the bottom of the Libby app.

Step 2

Scroll to your list of Recent Loans and select the Read With... option.

You can also click the Loans option near the top of the app to access a list of titles you have borrowed. The Read With... option will appear in this list too.

Step 3

Choose whether you'd like to read the book in Libby (on this device) or with Kindle (device or app). (More information about using Kindle with Libby can be found on the Kindle section of this page.)

Note

Changing "Read With" Selection

You can change your Read With... selection by going to your Shelf and selecting Manage Loan for the title.

There you will find the option to access Read With... again.

Note: You can set your Libby reading preference for all books. More information about updating this setting can be found on the Libby Help page Changing your reading preference for books.

Reading Libby Books with Kindle

To read Libby books on a Kindle, follow the first 3 steps of the Reading Books section on this page and select Kindle as your "Read With" option.

Selecting the Kindle option will direct you to an Amazon sign in page. Sign into the Amazon account connected to your Kindle account and device. After signing in, you will have the option to Get Library Book.

Amazon will notify you that your book is available on your Kindle apps and devices. It will also provide you a Read Now in the Kindle App option (Kindle app must be installed for this option).

The title will now appear in your Kindle library.

Note: This title will not be available in Kindle once your loan has expired or you return the book.

Listening to Audiobooks
