Open Services

The UTK Libraries employs Open Services to support the creation, publication, and preservation of open access information.

Open Access Funding

Data Archiving and Sharing Support Fund​

  • This fund provides up to $250 for depositing a data set into Dryad. The libraries' 3DS department supports this fund and can help researchers with data management and digital scholarship.

Open Publishing Support Fund​

  • The Open Publishing Support Fund provides up to $1800 toward article processing charges for fully open access journal articles. Hybrid articles do not meet this fund's requirements.

Open Publishing Discounts

  • Options with specific publishers to have fees waived or discounted for open access journal articles.

Open Monograph Support Fund

  • The Open Monograph Support Fund, supported by the libraries and the Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development, may provide baseline funding of up to $15,000 for single-author monographs.

  • Specialized training, consultation, and instruction on open source or proprietary research tools and methods.

Open Educational Resources​

  • Locating and incorporating Open Educational Resources.

  • Evaluating journals, navigating publishing agreements, and more.

Understanding Research Impact​

  • Using metrics, tools, and techniques to communicate the value and impact of your work.

Research Profiles

  • Creating profiles with ORCID, Google Scholar, and other platforms and understanding citation analysis to track your work's impact.

Open Infrastructure

V.O.L. Journals​

  • V.O.L. Journals are open-access journals facilitated by the UTK community and hosted by UT libraries.

TRACE (Tennessee Research and Creative Exchange)

  • TRACE is UTK's institutional repository and a great way to make your work open access without paying fees. It houses articles, data, theses and dissertations, and other work by UTK researchers.

  • Resources and services for finding, planning, managing, storing, and all things related to research data.
