Interested in conducting research, but not sure how to best embrace all the evolving techniques in qualitative and quantitative methods, text/data ming tools as well as the evolution of digital advancements include artificial intelligence (AI) and more.  Whether you are a member of faculty, a post-doc researcher, a doctoral candidate, or considering becoming a researcher in the future, the UT Learn@Research LibForum provides an opportunity to learn, share, and mingle with other scholars about research resources, methodologies, technologies, and professional development.

The Mission of this Forum is to cultivate a strong research community across the University of Tennessee via presentations and colleague interactions. Through these sessions, attendees will:

  • Learn about new research resources, methods, and technologies
  • Interact and network with fellow community researchers
  • Share research ideas, expertise, and experiences with researchers across the UT System

Workshop Details

This Forum aims to be a welcoming and inclusive space to share and explore research methods/tools, engage in research discussion, and connect with research scholars across campus.

  • Event Frequency: One session per month, three sessions per semester
    • Fall 2025: Sessions in September, October, and November
    • Spring 2026: Sessions in February, March, and April
  • Event Dates and Times: 
    • Fall 2025:
      • 12pm, September 11th (Topic: Learn Your Personal Research Assistant: Zotero)
      • 1pm, October 23nd (Topic: Machine Learning for Physical Science) - cancelled
      • 12pm, November 19th (Topic: Using AI/machine learning in diagnosis of breast cancer)
    • Spring 2026 (tentatively): February 5th, March 5th, April 2nd
  • Event Location: Zoom
  • Presentation Format: Each presentation will be 45 minutes, followed by a 15-minute question-and-answer session.
  • Workshop Presenters: All faculty, post-doc researchers, and doctoral students are welcome to apply to present.
  • Registering for Workshops: Registration can be done in the corresponding month via the UT Workshop Calendar.
