What Is Open Access Week?

 

Open Access Week, October 21 - 27,  is a global celebration of the principles of open access. The University of Tennessee, Knoxville is participating to create awareness about the benefits of open access to scholarship and related scholarly communication issues.

In the words of Peter Suber: "OA removes price barriers (subscriptions, licensing fees, pay-per-view fees) and permission barriers (most copyright and licensing restrictions)."
