"GIF IT UP is an annual GIF-making contest that celebrates creative remixing of cultural heritage. It’s run by Europeana in partnership with organisations from around the world.
Throughout October, GIF-makers and cultural heritage fans are invited to create new GIFs from open access digital collections. Great prizes are on offer for the best entries, as judged by the public and our jury of creative experts.
HOW TO ENTER
1. Find an inspiring piece of open access cultural heritage from partnering websites. Not sure where to start? Check out our Selected Collections page.
2. Create an awesome GIF. Don’t know how? We’ve got lots of resources to get you started.
3. Submit your GIF for a chance to win great prizes.
4. Share your GIF on social media using the hashtag #GIFITUP2025."
