Introduction to the Newspaper Research Guide
The University of Tennessee has an extensive collection of contemporary and historical newspapers, representing a broad range of historical, social, and cultural viewpoints. Materials are available in a number of formats -- including digital, hard copy, and microfiche -- and can be found onsite at the library or through online databases. This research guide provides an overview of our holdings and offers helpful hints for finding specific content.

Finding Newspapers
Depending on their format, newspapers can be found in several places in the library.
Online databases offer the broadest access. In addition to aggregate databases, such as Factiva and LexisNexis Academic, we also have databases that focus on specific newspaper eras and topics.
Historical newspapers are available online as well as an extensive collection on microformat at the Hoskins Library Storage Reading Room at 1401 Cumberland Avenue.
Print copies of news subscriptions are available in the reference room on the first floor. We offer local and foreign titles including Le Monde, The New York Times, and The London Times.
